Member Alert (1)

Did you know that Pickens County Council is considering a new ordinance and overlay for Lakes Keowee and Jocassee? This overlay will have new and strong zoning-like rules on what can be built on private lake adjacent property and where it can be built without a means of appeal or exemptions. While we support efforts to protect water quality, we have some serious concerns about what this means for private property rights and private property owners. The ordinance has already passed second reading, and could be up for its last reading as early as the first week of August. The current draft of the ordinance is attached for your review. Please reach out to our Government Affairs Director, Elizabeth Edwards Martin (elizabeth.edwards@ggar.com), for more information.
